I had already made a backup of that file just in case. Oh, the event thing that I can't discuss without giving spoilers, but well, the one where you need to get that thing back, that was super fun! (Unimportant to the review and a spoiler:) I instinctively jumped to my host and forkbombed, apparently I was supposed to kill his forkbomb instead, oh well. Despite my negative review, I don't regret this decision at all, it's a very, very fun game. So fast that I immediately bought the DLC, soundtrack, and DLC soundtrack for myself, then bought the game and DLC for both my wife and her boyfriend also. The pacing was really good, and I got hooked fast. That was cool, and I'll probably compile it later to have that tool on my PC for real (don't comment about the related real life security to this - I assure you I already know, and it's just for fun). I liked seeing the C# source code and realizing it was actual, real C# source code that would probably work if the LESS_THAN was properly changed to a "<" sign, etc (C# is my main dev language, always a plus to see it referenced in a game at all). It was fun and helpful to see some things I recognize from real life, such as the default system port numbers being accurate and the existence of a few UNIX commands (my main OS has been FreeBSD for years, and my experience with UNIX helped with the gameplay in a way that felt good). It is probably the funnest hacking-themed game I've ever played, and I've played a lot of them. There's a "TL DR" at the end if you're lazy. In contrast to my usual, I have enabled comments on this review - feel free to state your feedback, whether you agree with me or not, just please remain respectful to me, the developers, other commenters, and anyone else as applicable. I very rarely review games on Steam, and only review the ones about which I am most passionately moved, positively or negatively. You just have to hack Naxi and remove his x-system file. This is an extremely fun game, don't get me wrong, but I have two very major issues with it (especially the second one) that have prompted me to leave a negative review. You can access the /el/ jobs if you don't get hacked. Emailing him a swear word for an achievement (remember to make it lowercase so it works) may still work if you do this. Feel free to look into it on your own if interested.ĭeflecting Naxi's attack does not prevent you from hacking him back in and removing his system file as long as you do that before finishing any other missions. Thats useful for when he actually tries to hack into your computer, you know where he's coming from.Īs a side note, there was an official announcement of multiplayer, where you hack into systems with other people, and theres new tools in it, like one that measures Ram usage. As you yourself are being hacked, you will want to connect to your own computer, not anyone elses or no computer at all.Įdited on 9/28/16 18:23 EST - Got a comment saying Naxi's activities can be watched through your logs so I added that little note in. DLC may include more hackers going after you and a need to use the forkbomb command to take down computers.Įdited on 7/2/16 23:32 EST - Clarifying instructions to preventing the stress of dealing with Naxi to say you need to be connected to the computer being actively traced in order to counter attackers. Though its been predicted that future DLC and a multiplayer function will be added into the game. Created on 6/9/16 19:53 EST - Only current purpose of the guide is to be a refrence in deflecting Naix's counterhack in retort to your actions.
